Firefighters Control Blaze In Foothills Above Santa Barbara

(SBCFD Photo)
Fire burns about two acres of brush in Mission Canyon

Firefighters stopped a two acre brush fire in the hills above Santa Barbara before it could spread, and damage homes.

The blaze was discovered at about 2:30 Saturday afternoon in Mission Canyon, on the 2800 block of Palomino Road.  Firefighters on the ground aided by air tankers stopped the blaze in about two hours.

Firefighters say a worker using a weed whacker accidentally started the fire.
