Authorities have released the name of an 18 month old Santa Barbara County girl whose death is being called a murder.
Delilah Cossio-Molina was taken to Marion Medical Center in Santa Maria last Sunday with severe head injuries. She was later airlifted to a Madera Hospital for specialized treatment, but died there on Tuesday. Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s detectives were called to the hospital after the Orcutt girl arrived for treatment, because hospital staff say the girl’s injuries didn’t match the story told by her mother.
Following interviews with medical staff and the girl’s mother, Sean Kothe was arrested on a murder charge, as well as assault on a child causing death. Investigators say the 24 year old Orcutt man was the mother’s boyfriend.
