Controlled Burns Banned In Santa Barbara County Starting Friday

The high brush fire danger on the Central and South Coasts is prompting a total ban on open fires in Santa Barbara County, even if someone already has a burn permit.

Santa Barbara County firefighters say the burn ban will go into effect this Friday, and will stay in effect indefinitely. The ban includes those for agricultural purposes.

Firefighters say they expect to keep the ban in place until there’s enough rain to reduce the brush fire threat.
