Democratic Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson had huge numbers against Republican challenger Colin Patrick Walch for the 19th District State Senate seat, topping Walch by a 63 to 34% margin. Its sets the stage for another November face to face confrontation between the two. The 19th District includes Santa Barbara County, as well as part of Ventura County.
The 27th District State Senate race was a wide open one, with Democrat Fran Pavley of Agoura Hills termed out of office. Republican Steve Fazio and Democrat Henry Stern emerged from the six candidate field as the top vote getters to face each other in November. The district includes parts of Ventura, and Los Angeles counties.
