New Ventura County Grand Jury Report Says Camarillo Isn't Doing Enough To Help Seniors

A new Ventura County Grand Jury report says one city in the county isn’t doing enough to serve its senior citizens.

The report looks at the needs of the City of Camarillo’s older residents. It notes that a program which once provided senior meals four days a week now only does it one day a month. The congregate senior meals are available five days a week in other parts of the county.

The Camarillo Health Care District, the Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District, and the City of Camarillo are charged with providing services and support.

The Grand Jury says the three agencies aren’t adequately coordinating their efforts, and that the city’s senior population hasn’t been properly surveyed to assess its needs.  The report also says that Camarillo is only spending a tiny fraction of what neighboring cities are pledging to senior services.
