It’s election eve in California, and on the Central and South Coasts.
While the Hillary Clinton-Bernie Sanders battle for the Democratic Presidential nomination is headlining the June 7th primary, voters on the Central and South Coasts are also making some big local decisions.
There are some congressional, State Senate, State Assembly, and county supervisorial races on ballots in the region, as well as a few school bond measures. Perhaps the biggest battle is over the 24th District Congressional seat, which is wide open after Lois Capps announced her retirement after nearly two decades in office. Nine candidates are battling it out for the two top slots, and the chance to make it to the November general election.
There are three supervisorial races each in Ventura, and Santa Barbara Counties.
Santa Paula, and New Cuyama voters are each being asked to approve bond measures for school improvements.
The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. tomorrow, but many people have already voted. It’s expected that around half of the ballots cast will be vote by mail. KCLU will have live coverage of local races starting at 8 Tuesday night.
