Mystery Continues Over Disappearance Of Teen After Kidnapping Suspect Shot To Death On Central Coast

The mystery continues over what happened to a teenage girl authorities believe was kidnapped by a man who was shot to death in a gun battle with Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies.

Detectives believe Fernando Castro abducted Pearl Pinson Wednesday morning in Vallejo. An Amber alert was issued for Castro, and the teen. Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputies spotted the 19 year old man driving south on Highway 101 near Los Alamos Thursday afternoon, and it led to a pursuit and shootout in Solvang. Castro was shot to death, but fortunately, no one else was hurt. However, the 15 year old girl wasn’t with Castro. A search is underway for the teen in Northern California.

However, on Saturday Solano County Sheriff’s deputies ended a search for Pinson along a Creek in Sonoma Coast State Park. Investigators have been trying to track Castro’s movements during the last few days.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office officials say there is no evidence to indicate the teen might be in our region, so there is no search underway locally at this point.
