Deputies hunt for wanted parolee in Nipomo Wednesday morning

A Sheriff’s deputy on the Central Coast is recovering from injuries he suffered as officers were trying to catch a parolee.

It started just after six this morning, on the 300 block of North Mallagh Street in Nipomo. San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the area by reports that a wanted parolee was sleeping in a car on the street. As they approached the vehicle, Angel Padilla of Arroyo Grande fled. Officers set up a perimeter around the neighborhood.

The 28 year old man was found about an hour later hiding in a nearby yard, and only surrendered after being bitten by a K-9. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, and arrested on multiple charges ranging from resisting an officer to violating parole. A deputy suffered minor injuries after being caught in some fencing during the chase.
