Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s investigators are trying to figure out what prompted a potentially dangerous situation, with a man standing on the corner of a South Coast street waving a machete.
A Sheriff’s deputy on patrol was flagged down by two women just after 1 p.m. yesterday, who reported seeing an upset man yelling, and waving a machete near the intersection of Modoc and Las Positas roads just outside of Santa Barbara.
The deputy found James Horton armed with the weapon, and pulled his pistol. The 34 year old Fresno man surrendered peacefully, and was arrested for exhibiting a deadly weapon.
