Woman Arrested On South Coast Accused Of Living The High Life On Other People's Credit

Detectives say an attractive woman who used dating websites to meet people, but then steal their financial information has been arrested in Santa Barbara County.

Investigators with the Southern California High Tech Task Force say Maria Johnson has been living the high life for close to a decade in Southern California on other people’s credit.

They say the attractive brunette would meet people through dating or home rental websites. Once she got access to victims homes, she would steal their personal information to open lines of credit. The 43 year old woman, who used a number of different aliases, stayed in high end hotels and used credit to buy thousands of dollars worth of merchandise.

Investigators learned that she was staying at a Montecito hotel, where she was finally arrested. Johnson was taken back to Los Angeles County, where she was booked for two felony arrest warrants, and is being held in lieu of two million dollars bail.
