No Party Preference Doesn't Mean You Can Vote For Just Any Presidential Candidate In California

There’s less than a month left to register for California’s June Primary, and local elections officials are trying to help clear up some confusion about the presidential race.

Vote by mail voters who are registered with no party preference have been sent postcards saying they need to select a party ballot. No party preference voters can also pick up a ballot at a polling place on Election Day.

However, some parties will not allow people registered with no party preference to take part in their presidential candidate selection process June 7th. People who want to vote for Republican, Green Party, or Peace & Freedom Party candidates must be registered with that party no later than May 23rd.
