Autopsy Shows Man Who Collpased Fleeing Ventura County Sheriff's Deputies Died From Drug Overdose

Ventura County Sheriff’s officials say a wanted man who collapsed while fleeing from deputies died as a result of a methamphetamine overdose.

Deputies were trying to arrest Miguel Burciaga Junior December 3rd in Saticoy for an outstanding felony warrant.

They say as they approached the 28-year-old man, he fled on foot.

The officers Burciaga ran into an agricultural field, when he suddenly collapsed.  It took them a few minutes to get onto the property, and reach the Ventura man.

They started CPR.  He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.  The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office did an autopsy, and concluded the death was the result of a methamphetamine overdose.
