Voters Decide Central And South Coast State Senate, Assembly Races

Voters made clear decisions on some State Senate and State Assembly races on the Central and South Coasts.

Monique Limon is the new State Senator representing the 19th District in Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties.   The Democrat defeated Republican Gary Michaels by a 66% to 34% margin.

In the 27th State Senate, Democrat Henry Stern easily won re-election with 63 percent of the vote, outdistancing Republican Houman Salem.

In State Assembly races, Democrat Steve Bennett defeated Republican Charles Cole by a more than two-third margin to represent the 37th District.  Bennett was a longtime Ventura County Supervisor.

And in the 44th Assembly District, Jacqui Irwin was easily re-elected.  The Democrat had 52% of the vote, to Republican Denise Pedrow’s 38%
