Plan Advancing To Expand Popular Coast Trail In Santa Barbara County

The vew from Rincon Beach County Park

There’s a plan in the works to expand a popular coastal trail in Santa Barbara County.  It’s a project which would expand Carpinteria’s Coastal Vista Trail.

The proposed Carpinteria Rincon Multi-Use Trail would extend the trail from Carpinteria Avenue to Rincon Beach County Park.

The current route between Carpinteria and the park is potentially hazardous.   Bicyclists have to use Highway 101.  And, sometimes pedestrians will use unofficial trails along train tracks to make the trip.

The more than half mile trail extension would be 16 feet wide and include a 160 foot long bridge over the tracks.  The City of Carpinteria is taking public comments on an environmental impact report for the proposed project.
