A South Coast college has received a million dollar grant to help enhance some of the region’s churches.
Westmont College will use the grant from the Lilly Endowment to create what’s being called The Westmont Center for Thriving Communities.
The new center will provide support for Christian churches to help them best serve their congregations, and work with other religious institutions.
The Lilly Endowment is a non-profit foundation created in the 1930’s by the Lilly Family, owners of the pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly & Company.
The endowment funds community programs throughout the company, with an emphasis on education and religion.
