South Coast Philanthropist Dies

A South Coast businesswoman well known for her philanthropy has died.

Siri Eliason moved from her native Sweden to the United States with her husband in the 1950’s.  The found a furniture manufacturing company, and she started a chain of stores focused on Scandinavian furniture.

Eliason was a regent at Cal Lutheran for nearly a decade, helping to steer a nearly $100 million dollar fundraising drive which led to a number of new facilities and programs for the Thousand Oaks based university.  She was also involved in a number of Swedish-American organizations, and was honored by the Swedish government for her efforts. 

Eliason died in Thousand Oaks, losing a battle with cancer.  She was 87 years old.
