Wind, Surf Prompt Warnings About Potentially Dangeous Conditions On Central, South Coasts

High wind and dangerous surf are causing have prompted warnings about potentially dangerous conditions on the Central and South Coasts.

The National Weather Service issued high wind advisories, and warnings for the Central and South Coasts. Wind from 15-to 40 miles an hour is possible throughout the region, with gusts topping 50 miles an hour possible.

There’s also concern about potentially dangerous surf conditions. Eight to 12 foot waves are possible on the Central Coast, and five to seven foot waves on the South Coast. We could see dangerous riptides, and the potential for rogue waves which could knock beachgoers into the ocean.

The wind is expected to ease overnight, but we could see high surf conditions until tomorrow afternoon.
