Central, South Coasts Remain In State's Orange COVID-19 Reopening Tier

But, Ventura County officials say county is potentially one week away from advancing

The Central and South Coasts remain in the state’s Orange COVID-19 reopening tier, but Ventura County officials say the county’s numbers are on track to advance to the yellow tier next week.

30 new cases were reported in the region Wednesday. Ventura County had 15, Santa Barbara County 8, and San Luis Obispo County 7.

Advancing to the yellow tier would allow more indoor capacity for places like restaurants. Counties must have lower metrics for two consecutive weeks to advance from the Orange, to the Yellow tier. Santa Barbara County officials say the county barely missed meeting the number for its first qualifying week.

The reopening tiers for the region are close to becoming a moot point. The state has announced it will drop the tiers June 15th, and allow full reopening statewide.
