Santa Barbara County Offering New Rental Assistance To Those Hard Hit By COVID-19

Santa Barbara County is offering low income residents in the county hard-hit by COVID-19 new help in paying their rent and utility bills.

Santa Barbara County Supervisors approved a $13 million dollar plus assistance program.  People applying for the program need to be able to show a loss of income due to the pandemic, and that they need help in paying rent.

Those deemed qualified for assistance will get three month subsidies of up to $6,000 dollars.  People accepted in the program will be able to re-apply for up to a total of 15 months.

The payments will be made directly to landlords for back rent, along with current rent due.  The United Way of Santa Barbara County will administer the program, and will start taking applications online next week.
