COVID-19 Surge Continues On Central, South Coasts; 2400 New Cases Reported Friday

The massive spike in COVID-19 cases is continuing on the Central and South Coasts, with more than 2400 new cases reported Friday.  Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo Counties had a combined total of 2451 new cases.  Breaking it down by county, Ventura County had 1763 cases, Santa Barbara County 364 cases, and San Luis Obispo County 324. 

Santa Barbara County Public Health officials warn the county currently has the highest growth rate of the virus in its population of the state’s 58 counties. 

The total number of cases in the three counties during the pandemic now tops the 96,000 mark.

19 additional COVID-19 related deaths were reported in the region Friday, bringing the overall death toll to 768.
