Difficult Start To New Year For Central, South Coasts In Battle Against COVID-19; 38 Deaths Reported

The New Year’s period was a difficult one for COVID-19 deaths on the Central, and South Coast, with the worst four days since the start of the pandemic

The three counties had 38 deaths for the four-day period from New Year’s Day through Monday.  Ventura County had 26 deaths, and Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo County 6 each. The total since March stands at 543.

More than 6100 additional people tested positive in the region for the virus over the four days.  It pushes the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic in the Tri-Counties past 73,000.
