South Coast High School Athlete Tests Positive For Covid-19

A high school student athlete on the South Coast has tested positive for COVID-19, prompting 14 day quarantine orders for some teammates, as well as some school staff members.

Santa Barbara Unified School District officials notified parents about the situation through an e-mail.  The positive test involved a Santa Barbara High School student. There’s no word on what sport was involved.

While classes in the district are being conducted remotely, high school students taking part in cross country, football, volleyball and water polo have been allowed on campuses since last month for workouts.

Plans call for actual sports competition to begin in December.
