276 New Coronavirus Cases Reported On Central, South Coasts Over Three Day Period

The new coronavirus case count on the Central and South Coasts continues to remain on the low side. Just released figures for the three day period from Saturday through today show 276 additional cases in the region.

Ventura County had 131 new cases, Santa Barbara County, and San Luis Obispo County 64 over the three day period.  In fact, San Luis Obispo County only reported five new cases Monday.

The new cases count is important, because it’s one of the key indicators used by the state to allow counties to advance to the next level of reopenings.  All three counties are at the state’s red level, which is the second highest tier.  They are hoping to advance to Orange later this month, which would allow additional reopenings.

More than 27,400 coronavirus cases have been reported in the region since the start of the pandemic.  Most of those diagnosed with the virus have already recovered.

No new coronavirus related deaths were reporting in our area over the weekend, with the total currently at 311.
