Congressman Serving Central, South Coasts Now Reporting Positive COVID-19 Test

A congressman serving the Central and South Coasts who initially reported testing negative for COVID-19 after being exposed to someone with the virus is now saying he is testing positive.

Democratic Congressman Salud Carbajal of Santa Barbara released a statement Monday saying he had been exposed to someone who tested positive.  He said he had been tested, and while it was negative, he was going to self-quarantine.

After showing some mild symptoms, he was tested again Tuesday, and the results were positive.  Carbajal says most of his staff has been working remotely, and the few staffers he has been in contact with have tested negative.

He says he will continue to work remotely while in quarantine.
