Central Coast City Won't Hold Holiday Parade Over Coronavirus Concerns; Other Events Planned

A Central Coast city won’t be holding its annual holiday parade because of coronavirus concerns, but will try to add decorations and activities to celebrate the season.

The Downtown SLO organization says with community safety in mind, it can’t invite thousands of people to gather for its traditional parade.  Instead, they will do things which will allow people to space out their downtown visits.

Plans call for something called “Light Up Downtown,” with stores doing elaborate window decorations, and holiday lighting in parklets set up in front of restaurants.

The businesses organization is planning to put out a holiday season events schedule in a few weeks.
