Unemployment Dips On Central, South Coasts In July But Still Way Over Pre-Coronavirus Numbers

The unemployment situation is improving slightly on the Central and South Coasts, although it’s still nearly triple what it was before the coronavirus crisis.

Ventura County is reporting a more than one percent drop in unemployment.  It went from 12.6% in June to 11.3% in July.  Santa Barbara County’s unemployment slipped from 11.5% in June to an even 10% in July. 

And, San Luis Obispo County showed major improvement, with the percentage of people out of work dropping from 11.5% in June to 9.9% in July.

The state’s jobless rate went from 14.9% in June to 13.3% in July.
