South Coast Museum Closed By Coronavirus Concern Set To Partially Reopen

A South Coast museum focused on the ocean which has been closed due to coronavirus safety concerns is now planning to partially reopen.

The Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History’s Sea Center on Stearns Wharf will reopen its outdoor areas starting this weekend.

The museum has an outdoor tidal pool which allows people to see and even touch sea life like starfish.  Depending on ocean conditions, the museum also operates a small unmanned submarine which allows museum visitors to look at what’s on the ocean floor near the wharf.

The museum will be open Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.
