More Than 350 New Coronavirus Cases Reported On Central, South Coasts Thursday

The number of new coronavirus cases on the Central and South Coasts has skyrocketed, with 354 new cases reported Thursday. 

Santa Barbara County reported 224 new cases, with half of them in Santa Maria.  The county now has a total of 4635 cases. Ventura County is at 4968 cases, with 84 additional cases. Finally, San Luis Obispo County is reporting a total of 1158 cases. 

There have been 10,761 cases in the region.  Most of those diagnosed with the virus in the region have already recovered.  About a thousand of Santa Barbara County’s cases are linked to the federal prison complex in Lompoc.

There have been 94 coronavirus related deaths in the region, with no additional deaths reported Thursday.  Ventura County has had 56 deaths, Santa Barbara County is reporting 32, and San Luis Obispo County six.  Most of the deaths involved older adults with preexisting health conditions.
