State Sets Stage For Counties To Reopen Bars, Gyms; Local Confirmed Coronavirus Case Total Tops 3300

The state is clearing the way for the reopening of schools, day camps, bars and gyms closed by coronavirus concerns.

County health officials on the Central and South Coasts will have to look at the guidance being released by the state today, and decide if they are ready locally to reopen bars and gyms.

The state will set guidance for schools and camps.  The reopenings could start late next week.

Meanwhile, there are currently more than 3300 confirmed coronavirus cases in the region, a rise of nearly 100 since Thursday.  The total stands at 3,339, with Ventura County reporting 1261 cases, Santa Barbara County 1787, and San Luis Obispo County 291.

Two thirds of Santa Barbara County’s cases are linked to the federal prison complex in Lompoc.  There have been 51 coronavirus related deaths in the three counties.
