Iconic Santa Barbara Celebration Cancelled By Coronavirus, But Will Return As Online Event

It’s a more than four decade old South Coast tradition.  But, Santa Barbara's Summer Solstice Celebration won’t take place as usual this year.  It’s the latest victim of the coronavirus crisis.

The Solstice Celebration traditionally features huge floats and colorful costumes made by members of the community, as well as a three day long festival in Alameda Park.

But, organizers want to do something, so are planning an online celebration.  Solstice Executive Director Robin Elander says they are developing ideas now, and will announce a schedule of activities in early May.
