Goleta is celebrating 20 years as a city on Saturday

Can you remember how you celebrated your 20th birthday?

George W. Bush was in his first term, and flip phones were cool, and - 20 years ago - the City of Goleta also came into existence.

The City’s Public Information officer, Kelly Hoover, says there are fun 20th birthday celebrations planned for this Saturday.

"It's going to be one of those events where you're going to want to stay the whole time," she told KCLU. "We have a great day planned, starting at 11am."

"The City of Goleta is one of the youngest cities in the State and it's amazing because if you look at what has been accomplished in 20 years, there's really a lot to be proud of," Hoover added.

And next year, the city will be old enough to legally drink!

The Birthday celebration runs on Saturday March 5 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Rancho La Patera and Stow House (304 N. Los Carneros Road).
