Winter Storm Brings Hail, Intense Rain, And Street Flooding To Santa Barbara

The first wave of the winter storm that came through Sunday night didn't just ease its way past the Santa Barbara coastal area.

Instead, it brought hail and harsh rain.

That in turn led to drains clogged with debris, flooding areas of downtown Santa Barbara that included Mission, De La Vina, and Padre Streets.

Public work crews were called out and went to work after setting up barricades and signs.

At the Happy Laundry on De La Vina Street, the result of nearby drains being clogged led to water rising over the curb and through their doors onto the floor.

The first crews in the morning brought mops and buckets to clean up the leaves, dirt, and debris. It's unclear whether the laundromat had any damage to their machines.
