Major South Coast Surf Competition Sets Date, Will Hang Ten This Weekend

One of the most significant surfing events in California will be taking place on the South Coast on the final weekend of January.

The decision on when to hold the event is based on specific weather conditions, which aligned favorably and allowed organizers to announce that the Rincon Classic was on.

About 200 participants usually take part in the event, with youths and adults of all ages competing.

Both professionals and amateurs are among the lineup.

The Rincon, located at the Santa Barbara and Ventura County Lines, is one of the most significant surfing spots in Southern California.

Its rich history stretches back decades, and many pro surfers began their careers in that area.

Surfers coming in and out of the water on Wednesday said that the surf was already coming up, and expect it to be solid for the competition.

The Rincon Classic will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, with free admission.
