An email alert at UC Santa Barbara was sent out to notify students and staff of a mountain lion sighting.
The big cat was seen Monday night after dark near Campus Point, which isn't a place that mountain lions are typically spotted.
However, prior to the beginning of the school semester last month, there were three sightings in and around the campus lagoon as well as Isla Vista.
Those sightings are all believed to be of the same mountain lion.
Campus Police and Fish and Wildlife have been notified, and have responded with increased patrols in that area.
