Emergency Repairs To Begin Monday On Key Section of Highway 101
It’s been more than eight months since the Woolsey Fire, and infrastructure on the south coast is still recovering from the damage.
Part of that recovery is emergency repairs starting Monday on a section of Highway 101 in Agoura Hills between Reyes Adobe and Kanan Roads.
It's the start of a two month-long project to repair erosion on the side of the slope that happened during the Woolsey fire, according to Jim Medina with CALTRANS.
Medina says when the fire came through there were electrical lines that were also destroyed, and the fire also damaged some of the drainage pipes in that area.
The fire wasn’t the only thing responsible for the damage, Medina says.
The rains came and that just added to the whole problem, and they couldn’t do much until the rainy season had passed.
While crews will be working during the day, they won’t be working on the highway itself, so the traffic impact should be minimal.
