After years of planning and fundraising, a groundbreaking has taken place Wednesday morning for a new stadium at Santa Barbara High School.
Many of the current trees along the way to the stadium will be removed and new trees will be planted.
There will also be a synthetic track, an artificial turf field, and a modern sound and light system.
The facility will cost $38 million, and completion of the project is estimated at April, 2019.
