Ventura County Moving Ahead With Plan For New East County Fire Station

Ventura County Supervisors approve land purchase to replace outdated fire station in eastern part of county.

A plan to replace an outdated fire station in Ventura County is moving ahead, after County Supervisors approved buying land from a church to build a new facility.

The County wants to replace Fire Station 34 in Thousand Oaks. The building at the corner of Avenida De Los Arboles and Moorpark Road, built in the early 1970’s, is obsolete and too small. County officials say building a replacement fire house on the current site would require construction of a three story building, which wouldn’t fit with the residential area.

The answer is nearly two acres of vacant property at the intersection of Avenida de Los Arboles and Mountclef Boulevard. County Supervisors agreed to spend $1.28 million dollars to buy the land from Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
