Special Day For Dozens Of Children, Teens On South Coast Who Officially Become Citizens

Some two dozen children, and teens become American citizens at Thursday ceremony held at Channel Islands National Park headquarters in Ventura

Veterans Day is an opportunity for us to thank those who served their country in uniform, and to reflect on what it’s like to be an American.

Being an American citizen is something it’s easy to take for granted, but it’s a special feeling for two dozen children on the South Coast, who have just become citizens.

KCLU’s Lance Orozco was on hand in Ventura Thursday, as the children took their oaths of citizenship.

Lance Orozco has been News Director of KCLU since 2001, providing award-winning coverage of some of the biggest news events in the region, including the Thomas and Woolsey brush fires, the deadly Montecito debris flow, the Borderline Bar and Grill attack, and Ronald Reagan's funeral.
