South Coast Country Club Gets Low Water Use Makeover

The Montecito Country Club is getting a new look as part of $40 million makeover.

With the South Coast in a drought, however, the rollout of grass and the visible sprinkler system has caught the attention of passersby.

The project manager at the Ty Warner-owned property responds that the grass is low water use and the irrigation is coming from a reclaimed water facility nearby.

There are also 20 less acres to irrigate in the new golf course designed by golf legend Jack Nicklaus.

The Clubhouse makeover will have new pools, tennis courts, dining rooms and locker rooms.

Completion of the project is expected in late 2017.
