On October 15th the Ventura County Interfaith Community presented the first of a two part series exploring the approaches of several faith communities to the ways in which they either welcome or discourage conversions.

The second forum will take place at 7:00 PM on November 19th at the Ventura Church of Scientology (2151 Alessandro Dr, Ventura, CA 93001). The moderator for that forum will be Rabbi Michael Lotker. Presenters will include Imam Mehtar of the Islamic Center of Conejo Valley and Mayesvara and Brajarani Roberts of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. They will speak to the role of conversion in their communities as well as their practices for welcoming converts into the community. Also speaking will be Hariharan Pothulu who will add an important additional perspective – that of the impact of conversion in the Hindu community both here and abroad.
