Internationally Acclaimed Ensemble Trio Celeste to Perform Sunday, March 2 in Oak Park
As one of the most dynamic chamber music ensembles on the classical music scene today, Trio Céleste has pushed the boundaries of chamber music and redefined the art form with its exceptional virtuosity and passion. The trio is comprised of musicians Iryna Krechkovsky, violin; Ross Gasworth, cello; and Kevin Kwan Loucks, piano.
Works to be performed on the program are:
- Piano Trio No. 1 in A Minor, Vasyl Barvinsky (1888-1963);
- Trio sur des mélodies populaires irlandaises: Gigue, Frank Martin (1890-1974)
- Piano Trio No. 2 in E minor, Op. 67, Dmitri Shostakovich (1906-1975)
Barvinsky was a Ukrainian composer who was arrested by the predecessor to the KGB, and all his manuscripts and published works in his possession were destroyed. After his release from Soviet prison, he spent the rest of his life recreating lost compositions.
A light reception to meet the artists will follow the performance. Suggested donations are $25 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $5 for students, or pay-what-you-can.
