Faculty Recital: Cellist Yoshika Masuda with guest pianist Hyejin Kim
Cellist Yoshika Masuda and pianist Hyejin Kim will perform works for cello and piano written by female composers, with compositions spanning 250 years. The concert will feature hidden gems, well-known works, and a piece written especially for the duo by Indian American composer Reena Esmail.
Masuda is director of string studies and an assistant professor of music at Cal Lutheran. He began playing the cello at the age of 5 and studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music in the United Kingdom, where he graduated with distinction. He has performed across the United States, Europe and Asia and holds a doctorate in musical arts from the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music, where he studied with the legendary cellist Ralph Kirshbaum. Donations will be accepted.
