An Academy Award winning actor who was a longtime Ventura County resident has died.
George Kennedy starred in more than 200 movies, and television shows.
In 1967, he won a “Best Supporting Actor” Oscar for his role in “Cool Hand Luke.”
Kennedy was perhaps best known for his role as the can-do aircraft mechanic all four of the “Airport” disaster movies, and as a police captain in the “Naked Gun” crime parody movies.
The actor had a beach house in Oxnard.
Kennedy died Sunday at a care facility in Idaho. He was 91 years old.
