Two kayakers were rescued by a helicopter from the Channel Islands after their kayak overturned. Before being rescued, they'd floated in the ocean for hours at night.

The rescue operation happened Friday near Anacapa Island. The kayakers were able to use a cell phone to call for help. Fortunately, they had wetsuits and life jackets.

A Coast Guard helicopter reached the scene at around midnight and pulled them to safety. They were reported to be in stable condition after medical treatment.

Coast Guard officials urge people kayaking in remote areas like the Channel Islands to have a marine radio with them for emergencies, because cell phone service in the area is spotty.
