A Ventura County tax preparer has been sentenced to prison after she filed more than 1,700 false returns for her clients.
Ann Quach filed false claims for more than a decade. In some cases, she created fictitious losses from businesses that didn’t exist, in an effort to reduce the client’s reported income. In other instances, there were false deductions for medical expenses and charitable contributions.
Quach entered guilty pleas to charges of preparing false tax returns and wire fraud.
The Thousand Oaks woman has been ordered to spend 27 months in federal prison and to pay $6.4 million in restitution.
