A 1950s and '60s rock & roll icon has died in Oxnard.

Freddy “Boom Boom” Cannon had classic hits like Palisades Park, Tallahassee Lassie, and Way Down Yonder in New Orleans.

He toured with legends like Chuck Berry and Fats Domino.

Cannon had been battling cancer but was still writing songs weeks before his death. He was 89 years old.
