The Surfrider Foundation and Patagonia will host a tuneup event in Ventura on Friday for International Surf Day, which takes place on Saturday.

Will the surf be up this weekend? Surfers in the Tri-Counties are hoping so, because not only is it the first weekend of summer, but Saturday is International Surfing Day.

The Surfrider Foundation and the Ventura-based outdoor clothing company Patagonia are teaming up to host a tuneup event for the surf community.

Friday's celebration will feature free wetsuit repairs, live music, food booths, a surfboard swap event, and a ping pong tournament.

The free wetsuit repairs are one per surfer, and the suit must be clean and dry. The Patagonia team will try to repair it regardless of brand.

The event is from noon to 6 p.m. Friday, at Patagonia’s Wetsuit Forge, the company’s repair facility at 188 West Santa Clara Street, in downtown Ventura.
