23 deputies travel to Los Angeles Friday as part of a mutual aid request from Southern California agencies due to civil unrest.

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office is the latest law enforcement agency from the Tri-Counties to support Los Angeles in the wake of the civil unrest over the past week.

The Sheriff's Office sent a contingent of 23 deputies to Los Angeles on Friday. It's unknown how long they'll be deployed to Southern California. The Santa Barbara and Ventura County Sheriff's Offices had already sent deputies at the request of the LAPD and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office earlier in the week.

A number of police departments on the Central and South Coasts have also sent officers. The Santa Paula Police Department was one of the early responders. Arroyo Grande sent four officers on Friday, and Grover Beach sent a commander and two officers.

Officials are stressing that the local officers being sent to LA are being used for public safety and protecting buildings, and are not in any way being used in ICE enforcement activities.
