Proposed legislation would require price tags to show the impacts of tariffs on individual products.

How much are tariffs impacting something you buy?

A Santa Barbara congressman is one of nine California co-sponsors of legislation that would show how much tariffs are increasing the price of your purchases.

Democratic Rep. Salud Carbajal of Santa Barbara is calling it the Truth in Tariffs Act.

Carbajal said it will give Americans full transparency on the hidden costs of tariffs. He believes it will show consumers how the Trump Administration’s policies drive up prices.

According to Carbajal, the proposal will also protect consumers against price gouging by retailers who might use tariffs to increase their profit margins on products.
