Reps. Julia Browney and Salud Carbal say the raids aren't targeting criminals, but hard-working Ventura County undocumented immigrants.

Two congressional representatives serving the Tri-Counties released a joint statement condemning ICE operations in Ventura County.

Democratic Congresswoman Julia Brownley of Westlake Village and Democratic Congressman Salud Carbajal of Santa Barbara said they received reports of ICE enforcement action in Ventura County.

They said agents attempted to enter agricultural facilities, stopped cars, and were seen near some schools.

Brownley and Carbajal said the raids were not about public safety but intended to create fear. They said the undocumented immigrants being targeted aren’t criminals, but hard working people who are an essential part of the county’s community.
